Taiwan Trip Day 3
Written at Friday, April 08, 2011 | back to top

1 April 2011 - Friday

Taiwan Trip Day 3
::Taipei - Da Xi - Da Hu - Taichung::

woke up at 6.45am, and was in shocked! the sky was bright until like as if it was 8am in the morming, i thought we overslept or what, immediately jumped up and grabbed my phone, and chey!~ it was only 6.45am. lol. so totally different, Taiwan sunset around 4-5pm and sunrise was as early as 4-5am! wow!!!

anyway, did everything in a rush and rushed down to the cafe to have our breakfast at 8am. this hotel doesn't have a buffet style breakfast, but they have few sets of set meal to choose from. i chose "Bayern Morning" set, it's like a luncheon meat with egg and toasted bread + orange juice. haha. i love orange juice xD

my breakfast

group photo of us having breakfast!

we only took 25 minutes to finish our breakfast, and then rushed back up to our room to bring our bags down and to do last minute check for any left-behind items. what a pity, such a wonderful room, we can only stay for one pathetic night.

the start of Day 3

before boarding bus

first place to go for day 3, a 40 minutes bus ride to 圆山大饭店 (The Grand Hotel, Taiwan)  for sightseeing. the main building of the hotel is the world's tallest chinese classical building. haha. from the outside, it does really look like some ancient palace kind of place.

i have no idea is this hotel a sightseeing place for tourists, or is it really a hotel meant for staying?! haha.

like a palace uh?!

the sun is too hot

looked very grand uh?

one more shot before proceeding in xD

day 3 day 3 ^^

looked really very chinese feel!~

a group photo with the bellboy and bellgirl
they have very unique uniform xD

back to outside

lol. zigzag legs, looked like we need the toilet urgently!!

jumping crazily!!!

after that, back to the bus and off we go to 玲珑阁. one of the most horrible places to go, like some tourists scamming place. it's a place that sells fengshui items, but the main highlight there was the TianLu, an auspicious sculpted animal, a unicorn or deer with a long tail possession of the empire.

after the man demostrated to us on how to touch the TianLu, we were all brought inside and a lady, who was said to be one of the best fengshui master in Taiwan, gave us some fengshui talk. and amazingly, the talk was kind of interesting.

but it was like hell when we were individually assigned to one fengshui master each. they initially was like saying to help you check our 8-characters, and then after checking, they were like saying your luck not good, your this not good, your that not good, and bla bla bla.

and then she took out one small little TianLu saying that can help to overcome everything, and that bloody little thing costs like NT$8,888 (S$372). SIAO EH!!! i told her i no money, and then she took out a even smaller one which was like NT$4,888 (S$204) DOUBLE SIAO EH!!! my money was meant for shopping, not for that tiny little creature =/ she insisted and insisted me to buy, but i was firmed enough to keep on rejecting and rejecting. until she knew she can't force me to buy, her face and attitude totally changed 360 degree. oh whatever, i quickly went outside to wait for my friends to come out.

luckily, all of us managed to escape and we waited for the rest of the group outside. Shalee wasn't lucky enough, she managed to reject from buying, but that lady SUAN and critisized her like mad. what a horrible people =/

Ling Long Ge~~~

the man demonstrating how to touch the TianLu...

SCAMMERS, looked at all those SCAMMERS!!!~
$_$

i felt like home seeing our Singapore Flag there..

waiting for the rest of the group =D

after 1 hour of torturing, finally we are leaving the place. back to the bus and there's actually one uncle in our group who bought a big TianLu for like over NT$30K (S$1,256). omg lah, so expensive!~

and next, a pretty long journey to our 3rd destination. it took us almost 2 hours to reach Ta Shee Blooming Oasis, 大溪花海农场 at 1pm. according to the tour guide, we were actually behind schedule due to some traffic delay earlier on. the tour guide actually booked the restaurant to have lunch at 2pm, and the journey from here back to the place to have our lunch definitely took more than an hour. and so, we were only given 10 minutes to quickly tour around the place.

immediately made full use of that precious 10 minutes to spam photos

sea of colourful flowers

the colours looked nice.
love yellow xD

spamming the red and pink flowers =D

and we were told that lots of Taiwan Idol Drama love coming here for filming

back to the bus at 1.10pm, and off we go to Da Hu area for our lunch. 1.5 hours bus journey to reach DaHu Strawberry Farm 大湖草莓文化馆 to have our lunch. we tried our best, but still late for 45 minutes. at last, lunch was served at 2.45pm. lol

we were served with 10 dishes and a plate of strawberry. the foods were not bad, they tend to like mixing strawberry with some of their dishes, it was sort of their signature style. haha. but don't understand why Taiwanese like to serve cold chicken. this was the second time we ate cold chicken in Taiwan, is it part of their tradition?

the place to have lunch

our lunch xD

waiting for foods

and fruits after meal

group picture with our tour mates

cheers!!~

outside the restaurant

time to move out to those strawberry products shop. everything related to this whole entire place is about strawberry. there's strawberry cookie, strawberry cakes, strawberry biscuits, strawberry jelly, strawberry ice cream, etc.

everything about strawberry can be found here. lol. and our tour guide told us this was his FIRST time bringing a group to this strawberry place. so he's pretty excited because it's his first time too. haha

our tour guide so excited
he wanted to take a picture of his first group that he brought to this place

our tour group picture again xD

HUGE STRAWBERRY!

strawberry ^^

enough of touring outside, we went into the strawberry products shop and i randomly bought some strawberry cookies and biscuits back for my working friends.

Strawberry Products Shop

like a strawberry paradise!~

buying strawberry ice cream

strawberry ice-cream

SHARE SHARE lah! lol

大湖酒庄

we continued to move up to all level of the strawberry products shop. Level 2 to see more strawberry souvenirs, Level 3 to see the strawberry growing process, Level 4 is like a cafe or what, and Level 5 is an open space to view the scenery of the place.

move up to upper level for more shops

at Level 5 open garden area.

the open area to spam pictures at
but the man behind photo-bombed us!!

POSED!

continued to spam

lol, and all of a sudden, Shalee stomach pain. and her pain was really pain, cannot wait, must go toilet to shit, like immediately!!! so exaggerating! haha. she said she maybe got this traveller diarrhoea. and so Lisa accompanied her to look for toilet, while Ginnette and me stayed behind to continue taking photo xD

Ginnette and me were left behind xD

after that, we immediately went down to look for them. and back to bus for our journey back to hotel. this time round they changed their schedule. normally they will send us to the hotel after we finished our shopping at night market and so on. hotel would definitely be the last.

but i think due to yesterday's incident, the 4 of us over-shop and came back late, delaying everyone's time. so they decided to make it that we head to the hotel first, put down our stuffs, and then out to the night market. for those who wished to shop till late at night, they will have to find their own transportation back to the hotel. and those who wanted to follow the bus, they were only given like 1.5 hours to shop, and after that they would have to go back to the bus which will sent them back to hotel.

and obviously, the 4 of us would choose to shop till late, and we have no problem in finding our own transportation back to hotel =D

journey to our hotel

please cherish when using water

Hotel Ful Won

our room!

after that, time to move out of the room and meet the rest at the lobby area. the last station for the night - Feng Jia Night Market. yeah, for us to shop till late late at night. goodbye to those who will be joining back the back after 1.5 hours. haha we have the entire night for ourselves! THE NIGHT IS STILL YOUNG XD

Feng Jia Night Market

Night Street

we decided to try the McDonald's, not buying big big meal or what because the entire night market got lots of foods for us to try. we only bought one McSpicy at NT$79 (S$3.30) to share. we divided it into 4 parts and share, eat little will do, we still have to keep our stomach for other foods xD

McSpicy

sharing session 1

and next, we walked past the UFO Catcher and decided to give it a try. you know, this kind of thing i seldom or never tried in Singapore because it's a total waste of money! i will never catch it.

but right here in Taiwan, i felt that i have the reason to spend money and it was only like NT$10-20 (S$0.40 -$0.80), omg, seriously i really cannot remember. i only know i kept dropping coins in to try my luck on that little round chick. hah, so cute!

and i was shocked that i managed to catch it. after like 3 tries or what. i caught that round little chick after dropping NT$60 (S$2.50). hahaha. and then the rest started giving it funny names, Lisa called it Ah Quak (eww), Shalee called it Lucy (omg) and i decided to name it Keropok! haha.

UFO Catcher

for my first time in my entire life, i CAUGHT it.

continued walking, and we walked past this shop selling toufu with the shape like a fries. looked pretty special to us, and so we walked in and ordered one bowl of it to share, and it's only like NT$35 (S$1.50).

Wonderful Soybean World
